Mirror Man

/ / All Posts, Simon's Poems for Adi Da

I lived in a land
Where there was no sun
And the days were void
And the nights stretched long
Blind darkness was all we ever
knew

And the people wept
But could not see
And they toiled and labored mercilessly
And we fed the plants but nothing ever grew

But a man once from our tribe
Stepped outside from inside
Walked through the mirror
And then this man was gone

He went to a land across the sea
Where all the people were living free
Where the grass grew high
And Brightness always shone

And when this man at last returned
He told us what he had learned
He showed us everything he knew

Said he was freed by a mirror man
Adi Da
Who said he can
Be devotee to Him the Great Guru

Adi Da said it wasn’t far
That he should follow His pure Star
And that He, Great Da, would break Him through

Adi Da showed him how
He contracted from the Now
Dissonant with what is True

He showed him then a mirror where
The man began to gaze and stare
Distracted by the Love that Shone behind

He walked through the mirror
And then he saw
A Bright Light
And An open door
Remembering Da
He lost his mind

He went to a land far away
Where Light shone every night and day
And Love and Bliss was all around

And then one day he returned
To tell us what he had learned
And about all the Happiness he had found

I lived in a land
Where there was no sun
And the days were void
And the nights stretched long
Blind darkness was all we ever
knew

But we found the Guru Adi Da
We followed His blissful Star
He loved us then
And broke us right on through
